3 Day Devotional: But the Lord Stood with Me - Day 3

Day 3: The Lord's Promise for the Future

Scripture:
“And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!”
— 2 Timothy 4:18 (NKJV)

Reflection:
Paul could look back and say, “The Lord stood with me and I was delivered.” He had seen God rescue him from the brink of immediate execution, and that past deliverance gave him confidence for the future. Looking forward, he could also say with certainty, “The Lord will deliver me.” Paul knew death was near, yet he believed it would not be defeat but deliverance—safe arrival into God’s heavenly kingdom. The same Lord who stood with him in the courtroom would stand with him through death itself. That is the hope of every believer: if the Lord has delivered us before, we can trust He will deliver us again, until the day He brings us safely home.

Application:
  • Reflect on areas of uncertainty in your future and place them in God’s hands.
  • Anchor your hope not in outcomes here, but in the assurance of eternal life with Christ.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the promise that You will keep me until the end. Strengthen my faith when the future feels uncertain. Help me to live with eternity in mind, knowing You will preserve me for Your heavenly kingdom. To You be glory forever and ever. Amen.
