It's In You: 3 Day Devotional

Day 3: The Calling is In You

2 Timothy 1:8–9 (NIV)
8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with
me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.
9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but
because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the
beginning of time.

Devotional Thought
Paul’s words aren’t just comforting—they’re costly. “Join with me in suffering for the gospel.”
Not avoid it. Not pray it away. Join it. But how? How do you endure suffering without losing
your soul?

You remember that you’ve been called—not just to believe, but to endure. And this calling is rooted not in your strength, but in the grace of Christ. You were saved and called before time began, and that calling still holds even when life shakes you.
When trials come, you don’t need to question your calling—you need to rest in it. You weren’t chosen because you’re perfect. You were chosen because Christ is faithful. And the grace that called you is the grace that will carry you to the finish.

Reflection
 How has your calling helped you endure hardship?
 Are you viewing suffering as a detour—or part of the path?

Prayer
Jesus, remind me that I was called with suffering in view. Strengthen me not to shrink back, but to lean on the power of Your grace. Let my calling anchor me when the road gets hard. Amen.
