PUSH: 4 Day Devotional

Day 2: The Power of Prayer

Scripture: James 5:16 – “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

Devotional:
Prayer is powerful—but not always in the way we expect. Sometimes it changes the situation, but more often, it changes us. It opens our hearts to trust, our minds to truth, and our eyes to see what God is doing around us.

And sometimes—prayer opens us to the truth that we are the answer to someone else’s prayer. God uses us in unexpected ways when we stay connected through prayer.

But let’s be honest—we often treat prayer like a weak backup plan. We’ll scroll, stress, drink, fight, or complain—until something happens. What if, instead, we prayed until something happens?

Prayer is powerful because the One we pray to is powerful.

Reflection:
What would change in your life if prayer was your first response, not your last resort?

Prayer:
Lord, awaken me to the power of prayer. Soften my heart, renew my mind, and open my eyes. Help me to trust that You are moving—even when I can’t see it. Use me, if You will, as the answer to someone’s cry. Amen.
