Well Done: 3 Day Devotional

Day 2: Engaged in the Work

Scripture:
Matthew 25:16–18 (NKJV)
“Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise he who had received two gained two more also.
But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money.”

Reflection:
The story shifts. Two servants immediately go to work — investing, risking, multiplying what
they were given. But one digs a hole. He hides what was placed in his care.

What held him back? Fear. Fear that his gift wasn’t enough. Fear of failure. Fear of judgment. And maybe even fear of responsibility.

Many of us do the same. We bury our gifts in the ground of perfectionism, exhaustion,
procrastination, or insecurity. But God isn’t looking for flawless performance — He’s looking for faithful engagement.

He gave it to you to be used — not shelved. The work might not always be easy, glamorous, or recognized. But every act of service, every step of obedience, every effort made in love counts.

Question:
Am I working with what God gave me — or am I hiding it because I think it’s too small or I’m
too afraid?

Prayer Prompt:
God, reveal the places where I’ve hidden my gifts. Deliver me from fear and help me engage — even when I feel inadequate. Use me as I am.
