3 Day Devotional: Swords Up - Day 3

Day 3: The Skills of the Swordsman

Day 3 – The Skill of the Swordsman

Scripture:
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” — 2 Timothy 3:16–17 (NIV)

Devotional Thought:
The best weapon in the world won’t help you if you don’t know how to use it. Paul says the
Word equips us—trains us—to be ready for every good work. That means practice. That means preparation. That means learning how to block the lies of the enemy and strike with the truth of God’s promises.

Jesus showed us the skill of the swordsman in the wilderness. Satan came quoting Scripture, but Jesus wielded the Word with authority and accuracy: “It is written.” Defense and offense. Blocking and striking. Standing and advancing.

The Word won’t sharpen itself—you’ve got to work with it. Because a closed Bible won’t help you in an open battle.

Question:
Am I sharpening my skill with the sword each day so I’m ready for the fight—or am I waiting
until I’m under attack to reach for it?

Prayer:
Lord, train my hands for battle and my heart for obedience. Teach me not just to quote Your
Word but to live it. Give me wisdom to know when to stand and when to strike. And above all, let my use of the sword always point me back to Jesus, the Living Word. Amen.
