Study Like it Matters: 3 Day Devotional

Day 3 - Study with the Right Approach: Handing the Word Correctly

Scripture Reading:
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Reflection:
Paul tells Timothy that it’s not enough to study hard; we must also study right. To “rightly
divide” means to handle the Word carefully, faithfully, and skillfully. Lives are impacted by how we share truth. Mishandling God’s Word can ruin lives (2 Timothy 2:14), but handling it rightly points people to salvation (2 Timothy 2:10).

This means every time you open your Bible, it’s more than reading words on a page — it’s
encountering Jesus, the Living Word. Every time you share, you’re offering life, hope, and truth to someone else. Handle it prayerfully, carefully, like it really matters — because it does.

Application:
 Before reading Scripture, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into truth.
 Take one verse today and “cut it straight”: read it, reflect on what it meant to its original
audience, then ask how it applies to your life now.
 Share that truth with someone — a friend, family member, or classmate.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for entrusting me with Your Word. Help me to handle it carefully, share it
faithfully, and let it shape me fully. May my life point others to Jesus, the Living Word. Amen.
