Study Like it Matters: 3 Day Devotional

Day 1- Study with the Right Aim: To Please God

Scripture Reading:
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Reflection:
When Paul told Timothy to study, he made clear that the ultimate aim was not grades, applause, or the approval of people. The aim was simple: to please God. In a world filled with voices telling us what success looks like — wealth, popularity, beauty, or influence — Scripture redirects our focus to living for an “audience of One.”

Colossians 3:23–24 reminds us that whatever we do, we do it as unto the Lord. That means our studying — whether it’s schoolwork, our craft, or Scripture — is ultimately about honoring Him. When God is our audience, every effort becomes worship.

Application:
 Ask yourself: Who am I trying to please today — people, or God?
 Before you open your books, your Bible, or head into class or work, pause and
pray: “Lord, let this be for You.”

Prayer:
Lord, help me to study and work with the right aim. Keep my eyes fixed on pleasing You, not
people. May every effort bring You glory. Amen.
