3 Day Devotional: But the Lord Stood with Me - Day 2

Day 2: The Lord's Power in Weakness

Scripture:
“But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.”
— 2 Timothy 4:17 (NKJV)

Reflection:
Paul testifies, “The Lord stood with me and strengthened me.” His own strength was gone, but the Lord supplied what he needed. And the reason was clear: so that the message might be preached fully. His rescue wasn’t about survival—it was about assignment. God’s power doesn’t just keep us alive; it propels His message forward. Paul even says he was “delivered out of the mouth of the lion”—meaning he was spared from the brink of immediate execution. Death was right at the door, but God pulled him back because the mission wasn’t finished. The Lord stood with him, not simply to spare his life, but to extend his witness.

Application:
  • Identify an area of weakness in your life and invite God to show His power there.
  • Shift your focus from comfort to calling: how might God want to use your trial to impact others?
  • Remember: Your weakness is the stage for God’s strength.

Prayer:
Lord, I confess that I am weak without You. Fill me with Your power, not for my sake alone, but so that others might see and hear Christ through me. Deliver me not just from trouble, but into Your purpose. Use my trials as testimony. Amen.
