It's In You: 3 Day Devotional

Day 1: The Faith Is In You

2 Timothy 1:1–5 (NIV)
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, in keeping with the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus,
2 To Timothy, my dear son:
Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.
4 Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy.
5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your
mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

Devotional Thought
Paul writes these words from a prison cell, awaiting execution. Timothy is facing pressure, fear, and discouragement. But Paul doesn’t tell him to toughen up—he tells him to remember. To reach back and draw strength from a living, enduring faith that didn’t start with him but now resides in him.

Sincere faith isn’t shallow or performative. It’s the kind of faith that holds on when life comes fast—when the grief is deep, the pressure is heavy, and the future is unclear. Paul had seen this kind of faith in Lois. In Eunice. And now, in Timothy.

That same kind of faith is in you. You don’t have to go searching. You don’t have to borrow
someone else’s fire. It’s already there—planted by God, tested by life, and ready to sustain you through whatever comes.

Reflection
 What trials has your faith helped you endure?
 Where do you need to lean on that sincere faith today?

Prayer
Lord, when suffering and uncertainty come, remind me of the faith that lives in me. Let it steady me. Let it carry me. Let it help me hold on. Amen.
