PUSH: 4 Day Devotional

Day 1: The Purpose of Prayer

Scripture:
1 Thessalonians 5:17 – “Pray without ceasing.”

Devotional:
To pray is to address God, to interact and commune with Him. It’s intentional, relational, and
transformational. It’s not just something we do when we need help. It’s how we live in
connection with God. Prayer is our lifeline, not a hotline for emergencies. It’s not about
performance, the right words, or eloquent language. It’s about faith, surrender, and intimacy with the Father.

Jesus taught us to pray “Our Father,” reminding us that prayer is first and foremost about
relationship. It's also an act of submission—saying like Jesus, “Not my will but Yours be done.” Prayer is not for God’s information—it’s for our formation.

Reflection:
Where in your life are you treating prayer as a last resort instead of a lifestyle?

Prayer:
Father, help me to see prayer as a daily connection, not an occasional cry. Transform my heart as I spend time with You. Teach me to seek Your face, not just Your hand. Amen.
