Fight or Flight: 3 Day Devotional

Day 1: The Charge

Scripture: “What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.” — 2 Timothy 1:13–14 (NIV)

Reflection:
Paul reminds Timothy — and us — that we’ve been entrusted with something priceless: the
gospel. Guarding it is not about building walls around our own opinions or protecting our
personal comfort. It’s about keeping the truth about Jesus pure, unaltered, and lived out in
both faith and love. Faith keeps us anchored in God’s promises; love keeps our witness from becoming harsh or self-serving.

This guarding is not done in our own strength. Left to ourselves, fear and fatigue will wear us down. But with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can stand firm even when the pressure is high.

Question: Are you guarding the gospel in your life, or just guarding your own reputation?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for entrusting me with the good news of Jesus Christ. Help me to guard it with both courage and compassion. Fill me with Your Spirit so I can stand firm without growing bitter or weary. Amen.
